ABOUT THIS WORK
Virginia Woolf was an English writer, essayist, critic and publisher.
Today she is considered to be one of the most important and influential modernist writers and feminists of the 20th century.
I am moved by her interesting but deeply troubled and tragic life.
In this work I combine drawing and painting into a digital collage.
I think about my technique as part of a contemporary printmaking.
I start my work with a pen and paper, pastels, colour pencils and paint. Sometimes I make several drawings, which then I move into a digital space, where I construct my image further.
I enjoy the freedom of digital painting, cutting, pasting and transforming the image layer by layer.
I often reuse some of the abstract elements. I find a different context or meaning for them.
Rather than aiming at photographic accuracy, I try to find my own poetic interpretation of the subject.
